Visualization of 3d movement in Shibuya train station complex, Tokyo This project is a visualization of the movement of trains, motorized traffic and people in Shibuya train station. The research data was gathered through field work. The train station complex lies in a depression. The station was developed by addition of sections over the years and is owned by various private and state companies. Therefore the whole ensemble represents an accumulation of apparently discordant buildings and structures. The main building of the group is a multi-level shopping center with a hotel at the top levels. No collective overarching plan of the complex exists. The station is used, according to existing data, by 2.4 million commuters per day. The complex accommondates 8 privately and state run train lines, running on different levels ranging from 5 underground to 3 above ground, plus several bus lines, one of which is directly connected to the city freeway, via a bridge over the depression.
